Walking and Running

Experience of walking the route I usually run

December 4, 2024

I had a chance to walk along the 5km route which I normally run. My entire experience of the place changed. Of course I walked at a different time of the day from the time I run. That explains some of it. But I also saw a lot more on the way: the buildings I have not noticed, a change in perspective experienced by walking on a different side of the street, more traffic and more noise. I would say running is more exciting than walking. When you walk, things you see change slowly. You do not notice when and how the place starts to look different. It’s more gradual. Walking puts you into greater harmony with the place and people around you. It takes a lot more time to walk. The distance I would normally cover in 20 minutes, takes a full hour. Walking allows for more time to think.
