Running in the Same Place

Discovering meaning in running the familiar routes

October 19, 2024

Recently I found myself running the same route over and over again. I did not lose interest in running long distances and I am as excited as before about seeing the new places. What changed? I think it is mostly a change of mindset. I told myself that I need to cover 13.86km on each of my runs. The route, the scenery, elevation gain – all of it is of no importance. The only thing that counts is the distance. What made it particularly exciting is the distance being about 4-5km longer than I would normally run. Not much you could say. Yet it matters. Plus, the fact that I created myself a rule to run 13.86km every day no matter how I feel. I feel stronger as a result and my weekend runs got shorter which my family is really happy about.
