How you handle not being able to run is just as important

As a parent I cannot go running as much as I like to. Oftentimes, it is my schedule that gets in the way of doing the long runs. What do you do when you cannot go out running? My favorites are stretching and strength training. They both can be done within limited time and both work towards making me a better runner. Pushups, sit-ups and planks are the best as they require no equipment. I may spend time looking at the data from previous runs to see what I can optimize in my training and habits. My other hobby is discovering new routes to explore places I have not been to. I like to follow ultra races around the world: it is easy to get hold of GPX files and render them on Google Earth. You almost feel like you have traveled there.
