Sometimes it is useful for me to imagine that I see things for the first time. As I recently run the same routes over and over again, I stop making sense of what I see. It becomes one long slog. This is not good. Making myself think that this is the first time is an interesting thought experiment. It helps keep my mind fresh and allows me to be more engaged with what I am doing right now. Of course, I do not forget that I have been to the place before, but I suddenly rediscovered the joy of being outdoors and of moving. This helps with my work too. A routine task turns out to be an adventure when seen in this way.
