It can be difficult to keep your running fresh when you stick to familiar areas. The answer is to try something new; it could be as simple as changing direction or taking a turn at an intersection you usually bypass. You might need to run through less-desirable areas before discovering your next favorite destination. It’s best to run slowly in new places, which is why I often do this when my legs are tired from the previous day’s long run. While you may not find a better place to run, you’ll expand your knowledge of your surroundings and sometimes discover delightful parks or empty roads that you can enjoy many times over.
