How do you brainstorm while running? I noticed that writing a list of questions before heading out for a run helps me to be more productive. I don’t have to think about what to think; instead, I can focus on 2-3 ideas I want to build. Having a way to record thoughts is great, and audio recording seems like the only option while running. Without recording, revising what I thought about and writing them down as soon as I get home is another way to remember. Curiously, brainstorming while running leads to ideas that don’t occur to me when sitting down; perhaps it has something to do with having more to see and thinking laterally instead of sequentially. It’s similar to the effect of stretching or lifting weights on my mind. When I’m thinking too much, my pace slows down and I notice my surroundings less. It might be a good idea to run in places you know well, away from roads.
