I discovered the joy of running for 30 minutes every morning after completing Badwater 267 VR run. I usually wouldn’t bother going out for such short runs. I’m a long-distance runner, but it turns out this is a great habit. The distance doesn’t matter; it’s the effort that changes my day significantly. Generally, I have a more productive and engaging day than if I stay home and do the work. The distance adds up over the week too—sometimes I run 45 minutes, other times only 25. It has become my routine to run every morning and think (or not think) about my day ahead. As my day’s schedule is structured around kids going to school, these morning runs give me breathing space.
